“Founded in November 2011 by Korea Government, the Institute for Basic Science (IBS) supports basic research within the entire range of natural sciences including physics, biology, chemistry, mathematics, earth science, and astronomy by providing highly advanced, supportive, self-direct research environments” |
IBS invitesapplications for the positions of Associate Directors who are senior-levelresearchers with high research potentials, running own research group incollaboration with the directors within their Research Centers
1. Introduction of the research center
- IBS Center for Molecular Spectroscopy andDynamics (CMSD), located in the Seoul campus of Korea University, emphasizesdevelopments of novel time- and space-resolved spectroscopy techniques andtheir applications to chemically reactive and biologically important systems.CMSD uses ultrashort duration pulses oflight to generate stroboscopic movies of the molecular motions that lead to thechemical, biological, and physical transformations of condensed matter. We usea broad range of radiation sources to measure the dynamics of electronic andvibrational degrees of freedom in a wide range of systems, perform quantumchemical and molecular mechanical computations of dynamic systems in condensedphases, and develop novel linear and nonlinear optical imaging and microscopytechnologies to monitor time-evolution of chemically and biologically reactivesystems in real time.
