    Introduction to Research

Aging in leaves is critical for plant’s fitness as nutrient relocalization from leaves to reproducing seeds is achieved through this process.
Aging process in plants involves a coordinated action at the cellular, tissue, organ, and organism levels under the control of a highly regulated genetic program.
We are taking systems biology approach to obtain insights into age-associated complex regulatory networks and understand the aging process in leaves.
Synthetic genetic approaches are also taken to reprogram leaf aging based on the key regulatory network for increased biomass.
