  • TITLE
    Optical analysis of locomotor behavior in a worm

  • ABSTRACT
    A fundamental goal of neuroscience is to understand how neural circuits generate coordinated behaviors. My laboratory studies brain and behavior in the microscopic roundworm C. elegans. We adopt a multidisciplinary approach, integrating tools from biology, physics, engineering, and computation. I will describe our efforts to understand the mechanisms by which the worm generates and coordinates sinusoidal undulations during locomotion.  In addition, I will discuss new automation tools we are developing for biological discovery using C. elegans.
