In many complex physical systems, the process of interest often cannot be easily separated from other processes because only the total combined process is accessible. Here, we suggest an analytic framework that predicts how each subprocess responds to the total process when only partial information on subprocesses is provided. Specifically, we derive an analytic equation describing the way the eigenchannel coupling of the total process distributes its energy to the individual subprocesses, with only the average eigenvalue  and the enhancement factor  of each subprocess. We show that the energy coupling is proportional to  of each subprocess. This work provides a new framework for understanding the wavefront shaping in the case of competing multiple scattering processes.
