Delivering light energy into the target object embedded in scattering media is critical for optical imaging or sensing. However, only a small fraction of incident waves reaches the target object due to random diffusion by multiple light scattering. Here we present a method to enhance light energy delivery toward the deeply embedded target in scattering media. With the implementation of the reflection eigenchannels of a specific flight time, we could control experimentally the multiple scattered waves interacted with the target object. Coupling the time-gated reflection eigenchannels with large eigenvalues, we could maximize the light energy delivery into the target object. We could enhance a more than 10-fold in light energy delivery in comparison with the case of random diffusion. We also demonstrated that our proposed method can be effective to the biological tissues, such as rat skull. We expect that our work will improve the working depth of imaging, sensing, and light stimulation.
